My Surname is written in Cyrillic as Биненбаум.
My Surname is written in Hebrew as בייננבאום
My father was born as Yankel BINENBAUM in Brest-Litovsk, Russian Empire in 1906 and emigrated to the United States in 1911 to join his father. He settled in New York City.
I am researching my possible ancestors around the world.
If your Surname is BINENBAUM or any derivation of the Surname, please add your information to this blog.
It is my belief that this BINENBAUM Surname has a German origin.
According to Alexander Beider's book "A Dictionary of Jewish Surnames from the Russian Empire" that was published in 1993 the above Surnames when translated mean either "bee tree" or "bee hive":
"Binenbaum A; Bienenbaum (German) bee tree (bee hive) (Binenbojm)"
"Binenbojm (Khotin, Rovno) A: binenboym (Yiddish) See Binenbaum"
Back in 1911 when my father emigrated from Brest-Litovsk, Russian Empire (later Brzesc nad Bugiem, Poland and today Brest, Belarus), we had relatives that were living in many cities of Europe. Some of my relatives survived the holocaust and migrated to other countries of the world. Some might have modified the spelling of their Surname.

[ Dear Mr. Binenbaum Schenker,
yes, the name clearly has a German and/or Yiddish origin: Biene/bine = bee, and Baum/boym = tree. Indeed: "Bee-Tree".]
